Life after Brexit in Spain

Back in 2016 I passionately campaigned for the UK to Remain within the EU. I just felt Wales was better off by having European Social Fund (ESP) money directly paid from the EU to the Welsh Government. Therefore by passing the Tory Cunts in Westminster. It was a great system for Wales as any involvement from the Westminster Tory Cunts generally, no sorry I’ll correct myself. The Tory Cunts ALWAYS make Wales Worse off.

At the time I was a Civil Servant for a central government department. A department that was too big and didn't understand the challenges of of Wales, therefore lots of money would be wasting on vanity projects, number counting, head counting or the money wouldn't reach the the poorest in Wales because the Cunty Troy government chose to deprive those that needed help the most. People such as those that had health problems and all sorts of other life challenges that they could not help. With a little bit of support or money it would help improve their situation or career prospects.

Money that directly came from the ESF for employment programmes was administered by the Welsh Government. One of the last employment programme projects was a collaboration between the Welsh Government, Local Authorities and DWP. With the Welsh Government having the overall charge. It seemed a really odd combination, but it worked, I guess they choose the right staff, with the right empathy skills to undertake that type of work. Unlike some I have worked with such as Bo Selecta, Cubic Zirconia and Mrs Jetson. All of whom quite frankly treated the public dreadfully, treating government money as if it were being paid out of their own purses. Not to mention their hatred and attitude towards the public that they were employed to help ‘in their eyes’ being undeserving of any help, support or money. And all of this attitude generally because they were bitter and twisted that they had to attend work every day to put food on the table, whilst ‘in their eyes’ all benefit claimant did was lounge about all day.

Bo, Cubic & Jet are typical of how you imagine a Brexit voter to look, sound and behave. Almost always an inward selfishness to get what they wanted and stop others getting what they need. You would think that people with such obvious attributes would be weeded out from such job roles. Well..... they were, despite what I said about DWP being too big, it did offer opportunities in mysterious ways in the form of early exit schemes and the refusal of partial retirement applications. These generally got rid of the deadwood, coasters and slackers.

Brexit has made it harder for people in the UK from the disadvantaged communities. The Cunty Tory government will never match the EU funding with the Levelling Up Fund. Thats because the Levelling Up money gets diverted to Tory voting constituencies and there are very few of them in Wales! These type of constituencies exists because of all the Bo’s, Cubic and Jet’s that live in them up and down the UK. They voted selfishly, voted for what they thought would solve their perceived unjust problems.

Anyway I digress, back to Brexit and Spain. Selfishly, I knew that the UK continuing to be part of the UK would benefit me with my future more to Spain. So why would I want to vote to leave. Its like Turkey’s voting for Christmas. I had in mind just like so many other British people and other EU nationals before me to be quite flexible in my approach in moving to Spain. First of all, I could have a holiday home and then over the years I would commit more and more time to living in Spain. It gave me a feeling of a safety blanket. If I got homesick for Wales then I could trot back and forth as I liked. Having that choice of where I wanted to be at any given time was taken from me because of Brexit result. At the time I was devastated. Still am to a certain extent that the UK is not part of the EU. I have now adapted, I am happy to be in Spain full time, but I still feel angry that my choice was taken away from me. As much as I love Wales, I hate the cold and rain. So, the reality is whilst I still feel a yearning for home I think of Spain, its culture and Sun at those times and it puts me mentally back on track.

Post Brexit you come across all sorts of people here in Spain. Some of which you would not expect. I am a proud ‘Remoaner’ so I can tell when I am in the company of others that either voted for or supported Brexit. Some of these British people have lived here for decades, others not so long. Some people will openly say that they voted for it or supported Brexit, others you can tell from their language. Such as my neighbour saying “bring back Nigella Farage!”

Generally in life I have a lot of time for others, but when it comes to the Brexit voting or Supporting type living here in Spain, I run for the hills and avoid them at all costs. I feel that they are truly hypocritical and offensive not only to the people that they stitched up by making it harder for other Brits to move to Spain, but its offensiveness to Spain as well. I feel embarrassed by what the UK has done, basically saying the UK can do without the EU and its members. Thats English exceptionalism for you! I hear the same tones of exceptionalism when these same people realise that a procedure or rule has changed for Brits post Brexit, such as the 90 day Schengen rule for visiting family or the need to have a TIE card to make it easier for most interactions with the Spanish government or banks etc. They are shocked when they realise things have changed, that they now really need to have a TIE card issued by the Spanish government as that identifies them as an Alien from outside of the EU. What else did they expect, they either voted for or supported it.

Brexit has made life harder for those that aspire in life. Be it wanting to study in an EU country University, wanting to live and work in the EU or just live within an EU country. I feel sorry for the youngsters not currently having the same choice’s and dreams in life as me.
